Building the Global Movement for Social Justice
Around the world, farmers, women, indigenous peoples, environmentalists and others are joining together to build a movement for social justice.
This includes a growing global movement for land and water rights and food sovereignty. The only force powerful enough to fix our broken global food system is us, when we work together to protect farmers and consumers from harmful agriculture and trade policies that enrich a handful of corporations while impoverishing our land and communities.
In our Building the Movement for Global Justice exercise, participants engage in role playing and discussions that highlight movement building as a viable option for advancing rights to land and water. Participants gain an understanding of some of the key steps and difficulties in building a movement.
The lessons of this exercise will be helpful to anyone who is interested in participatory social change, whether they are interested in resource rights or any other issue.
