Taij Kumarie Moteelall

Taij Kumarie Moteelall is the Program Director at Spirit in Action, a national movement building organization. Through her work with Spirit in Action she founded a national network for Women of Color called Standing in Our Power (SiOP). Inclusive and collective in nature, SiOP amplifies the voices and perspectives of Women in Color to establish new leadership paradigms. Taij is a certified Empowerment Institute trainer and integrates this into her work.

Before joining the staff of Spirit in Action, she consulted with Media Sutra, a socially responsible business she co-founded. She also formerly served as Executive Director of Resource Generation, an organization that works with young people with financial wealth and class privilege. Taij is a founder and steering committee member of Jahajee Sisters, an Indo-Caribbean women's organization in New York.  She also co-founded Blackout Arts Collective to empower communities of color through the arts and activism, and was a founding board member of the Harlem Link Charter School.

A prolific writer and dynamic spoken-word artist,Taij has performed and conducted arts-based workshops nationally and internationally. She offers workshops and presentations on the power of the arts, culture and creative process to foster personal and social transformation.
